Vale Gough Whitlam

Flowers are gathering on the steps of Old Parliament House and flags are flying at half mast around Canberra today. Gough Whitlam’s three-year term as Prime Minister afforded Australia diplomatic relations with China, no-fault divorce, legal aid, the Racial Discrimination Act, Medibank and the abolition of the death penalty. I’m not sure if any Prime Minister from my young years will be remembered for such a legacy.
